How to Make a Beaded Stretch Bracelet
I am addicted to making beaded jewelry. I have been doing it for a long time and I still love it. I find that making beaded jewelry is both fun and therapeutic. It allows me to wind down from a hard day at the office, and at the same time, it allows my creativity to come through. In this article, I will explain the process for making a quick and simple beaded stretch bracelet. These bracelets are simple enough that children can make them too. This is also a great activity for the family to do on a rainy day when the kids can't go out and play.
Let's get started:
Supplies: The only supplies you will need are a pair of scissors, stretch cord and beads of your choice. Beads come in a variety of colors and are made from many different materials such as glass, polymer clay and lampwork to name a few. You can buy beads at craft stores, beads shops or order them on the internet. Beads also come in a wide range of prices. The best part is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to make a nice piece of jewelry.
Measure: The first thing you will need to do is measure your wrist. Take this measurement and add three inches. This is the length of cord you will need to cut. Before stringing your beads you will want to put something on one end of the cord to prevent the beads from sliding off. You can buy bead stoppers at a craft store or bead shop but anything that prevents the beads from sliding off the cord is fine.
String: You can string your beads in any design or colors that you want. The possibilities are endless and are totally up to you. I enjoy it when I have time to experiment with different types of beads and color combinations. You can also add silver or gold spacer beads between the beads to give your bracelet extra polish.
Finish: When you are finished stringing your beads, tie a knot with the two ends and cut the excess cord. Make sure to tie the knot securely. You can also use a little bit of glue on the knot for added security.
Congratulations, you have made your first bracelet. For a cute look you can make several stretch bracelets to stack and wear together. Happy beading!
